Our 100% organic Red Rice is deliciously nutty, complex & earthy in flavour. Due to its unpolished & unhulled nature, Red Rice retains a higher nutritional value than white rice.
The 'unhulled' nature retains the red bran layer, giving the rice its well-known vibrant red colour and making Red Rice richer in fibre than regular hulled rice. The red bran layer contains up to 95% of the dietary fibre and minerals (iron, zinc, potassium, sodium, manganese) of the whole rice. In contrast, the inner white portion we see as white rice contains predominantly carbohydrates and proteins.
Red rice is a more nutritious alternative to brown or white rice. It's delicious for poke bowls, Asian dishes, stir-fries, burrito bowls, sushi, risotto and more.
How to use:
- Rinse in cold water and drain to remove excess starch.
- Combine rice and water or stock (1 cup rice to 2 1/4 cups water or stock) in a rice cooker or saucepan over medium-high heat.
- For a saucepan: Once boiling, cover it and reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook the rice for 30–35 minutes until tender, chewy, and all the liquid has been absorbed.
- Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
