Black rice is one of the most protein-packed kinds of rice available (per 100g, 9g for black rice vs. 7g for brown rice).
Black rice is a more nutritious alternative to brown or white rice. It's delicious for poke bowls, stir-fries, burrito bowls, sushi, black rice pudding, risotto and more.
How to cook:
- Rinse in cold water and drain to remove excess starch.
- Combine rice and water or stock (1 cup rice to 2 1/4 cups water or stock) in a rice cooker or saucepan over medium-high heat.
- For a saucepan: Once boiling, cover it and reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook the rice for 30–35 minutes until tender, chewy, and all the liquid has been absorbed.
- Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
